A thing of beauty is a joy forever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Many, many, thanks to everyone for all they /you did for us the weekend of the wedding. The wedding was the best time of our lives!!!! We love you all!
Last night I had my last little minute of calm, quiet time to think; I was driving to Richmond to pick up my good friend and groomsman Scott. I practiced my speech for a time, and fiddled with the dancing playlist.
But mainly I just tried to wrap my head around my incredible good fortune. What I lucky man I am.
What else is there to say? “Tomorrow!”
Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, errands, gifts; everything!
What a weekend! Very full and relaxing. We celebrated James’ birthday on Friday night with dinner and drinks out with friends and family. After celebrating at a local bar with other friends after dinner for a while, we were approached by a waiter who informed us that “a gentleman at the end of the bar would like to treat you to a round of drinks”. To our surprise, “the gentleman” was a guy from our church who happened to spot us across the room and sent over this generous offer. He ended up joining our party and we had a nice time talking with him. All in all, Friday was a great way to kick off the next week of preparations and partying!
Last night I got to spend some quality time with Jeff, Carol and Anne. We watched a movie and ate leftover cake. Then, I stayed up until 1am doing wedding stuff and reading. I think I slept for about 10.5 hours last night. I really needed to decompress this weekend after being so stressed out the last week at work with everything I had to get done. But, its all done now!
James and Pete left at 5am on Saturday morning for the bachelor-party-canoe-trip. They just got back home a few hours ago, exhausted, happy and smelling like sunscreen and the outdoors. They both passed out for naps. I’m just catching up on email, doing laundry and making lists for this week.
Thankfully all of Steph’s divorces finally went through last week and we were able to plop down our 30 pieces of silver and get:
License to Ill not pictured
In other news, tomorrow I am off on my bachelor party weekend canoe trip down the James. Groomsmen Jesse and Ross have arranged this final passage into manhood for me, and I’m pretty pumped.
Here is the tentative schedule:
Saturday, September 12th--leave before sunrise. Drink lots of coffee and beat chests. Apply war paint in car.
Evening of Saturday, September 12th--Camp on one of two designated islands. (There may be bears, cougars, and venomous snakes that we will have to fight with our machetes.)
Sunday, September 13th--Pack up camp, jump in canoe, and float to Scottsville.
I have promised Stephanie not to drown. Beyond that remember that what happens in the James stays in the James. (Nigh metaphysical bachelor party pun, ZING!)
In closing, a very merry Unbirthday to you (not me):
