This past weekend we took respite from wedding planning and visited our friends, Josh and Mary Caler, in Durham, North Carolina. Excellent conversation and laughs were in abundance throughout the weekend. We dined out twice and the Caler’s who are very good cooks made some awesome food to boot. Brunch this morning was at a french provincial bistro. I ordered the eggs mediterranean which had a tomato-caper hollandase sauce paired with ham, sides of pommes frites and salad, topped off with a perfect sweetened latté. The food was great, but what is inspiring about this restaurant was the interior. We have already nailed down the color palette for the wedding, and it is currently being used to direct a lot of our decisions for the reception, but I am still looking everywhere for stylistic inspiration—especially as it relates to the reception dining space. As soon as we walked inside this little place I liked it. Around me I saw white lace, deep rich navy blue, bright blue, luxurious frames, chalkboards, over-sized modern light fixtures which hung from the ceiling like ripe grapes and dark antique woods. I am going hunting for some table cloths this week!
