Wedding Party

We are so thankful to our friends and family for being a part of our wedding day!
Below are photos and brief descriptions of our wedding party.

Anna, Sister of the Bride, Bridesmaid
Anna is two years younger than Steph. She attended the University of Mary Washington and afterwards headed up to Boston to work for AmeriCorps. This past year, after finishing a stint with YWAM in Fiji, she returned to the city of Boston where she works for Outward Bound. Anna is a skilled musician and songstress and is learning Korean in her spare time. She loves reading, watching films and her favorite quote is “I never explain anything.” by Mary Poppins.

Carrie, Sister of the Bride, Bridesmaid
Carrie is four and a half years younger than Steph. She is finishing school at George Mason University. She has a large fan-base and makes friends everywhere she goes. There are over 700 photos of her tagged on Facebook. Carrie always has a hilarious story to tell and if you’d like to hear a good one, just ask her about “Nibbles”. Just kidding.

Katie, Maid of Honor
Katie and Stephanie met at summer camp in 4th grade and have been friends ever since. They both attended Virginia Commonwealth University. Katie is an accomplished chocolatier who spends her days creating edible works of art at a high-end chocolate lounge and boutique in Washington, DC. She is spontaneous and fun and regularly plans thoughtful surprises her friends and loved ones. After spending some time in France, her dream is to one day own and operate a pâtisserie.

Anne “Hals”, Sister of the Groom, Bridesmaid
Two years the younger, Anne is still the “eldest” of the two Fishwick children. She is a smartie pants nurse who will probably be in school forever. Most importantly however, she has recently made her directorial debut in a smash series of youtube films, set to that music that all the kids like these days. The star vehicle? Anne. It is no doubt safe to say that a brave new era of music television awaits us…

Jeff “Chuckles”, Father of the Groom, Best Man
A lot at this point has been said about Fathers and Sons. We’ll let more profound minds give you the heavy on the topic and just say that the two “Chucks” laugh a lot together and play a mean game of catch. If you manage to corner the old man at the reception, a word of advice; stick to theology or baseball.

Richard “Rin Tin, Groomsman
Isn’t Dick an accomplished self-portraitist? And he’s just as brainy and urbane as he’d us have believe (he just got a degree in Mimeis or something). Richard has been a steadfast friend to James lo onto these years, and, with that love comes several important checks and balances. Richard doesn’t tolerate a philistine or a poser, and he will still not let James forget how he called a Black Flag album “seminal” in one of their initial college days. Richard’s best-selling book of aphorisms is entitled A Fig Leaf on a Eunuch.  His home in Brooklyn provides him with many fools not to suffer.

Allie, Bridesmaid
Allie and Steph have been friends since 2004. She attended James Madison University and George Mason University. She now teaches English to high schoolers. Allie is a poet and short-story writer and just self-published a small book called “Uncommon Prayer”. She is making T-shirts for her students to take home on the last day of school that say “Metaphors Be With You”. Her smile and quick wit will quickly disarm you, and she reminds us all not to take ourselves too seriously.

Scott “Sk-Hot”, Groomsman
By the gentle hands of providence, Scott and James were pushed into each others’ paths during their Boston AmeriCorps orientation. The two made Boston their playground and could be found at every good basement punk show or Mod dance night that mattered. Scott is a ramblin’ man and has laid his hat in almost every part of this country at some point in time. He makes the best vegan baked goodies you will ever taste, loves the Cubs, and knows more about good film than you. He and James have been know to trade their favorite quips from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade looong past any semblance of funniness or good taste.

Sarah, Bridesmaid
Sarah (known as Tran to all of her friends) met Steph at VCU. They’ve been friends for a long time. She is a successful account manager for Washington Post Digital. Sarah is an incredibly caring and loyal friend, loves tennis, and got all her tips for living from reading the entire Nancy Drew series. In her free time, she can probably be found in one of Butt’s Tubes.

Ross, Groomsman
The reason for the season! Ross knew that James and Steph needed to meet, and planned for over a year to bring them together. We’re glad he did. Ross attended the Pratt Institute and used to be a genius furniture maker and now he is a genius photographer. He makes things happen. Wherever you live in the country, you might meet the guy at your favorite Chinese restaurant filling up his Dodge with oil from the deep fryer. He is currently in charge of making sure that the wedding play-list is not “too obscure.” That and getting written about in National Geographic (Congrats Ross!).

Pete and Melinda Nettelbeck, Groomsman and Matron of Honor
Melinda and Stephanie have been friends for over five years and were roommates in Falls Church. Melinda attended James Madison University and the Corcoran College of Art + Design. She designs beautiful, high-end buildings for a living. Since graduating with her Masters last week she is walking a little lighter. She continues to amaze her friends with her creativity and skill. Fun fact: Melinda grew up on a boat and has been vegetarian her whole life.

Pete has been a long standing friend to Steph and played protective older brother to her while he checked out this suspicious James character. Upon passing the muster, James received the full brunt of this gentle giant’s German gentility. His wine glass has not gone unfilled since! If you’re not sure who Pete is, just look for the tall guy giving out great, big hugs. He’s currently pursuing his Masters in Architecture at Virginia Tech.

Jesse Straight, Groomsman
James’ first good friend upon retuning to Charlottesville, Jesse makes time in life for only good, true and important things; whisky, song, tilling the earth, street luging, Buster Keaton shorts, audio documentaries, Wendall Berry, and tireless service to his family, friends and the Lord. He can also be looked to for the latest hot hairstyles and sartorial tips from NeverNeverland. He raises chickens that he bought through the mail.

Erin, Bridesmaid
Erin and Steph have been friends since their college days at VCU. They both made the trek up to DC upon graduating and have provided one another with moral support, laughs, and many memories as they navigated through “the real world”. Erin brings joy to all of those who know her. She is currently following her passion for serving people in need to the community of Bend, Oregon after spending many a-day making homes in the DC area more livable and beautiful.
